How do I prepare it?

Hydrate millet through quick boil and steam dry, mix with gypsum, fill containers, and sterilize.

  1. Rinse millet thoroughly to remove dust.
  2. Bring water to a boil and add millet for 5–7 minutes until grains begin to swell.
  3. Drain immediately to avoid overhydration and spread grains over a clean surface to steam dry for 20 minutes.
  4. Mix gypsum and lime evenly into the grains.
  5. Fill polypropylene containers to 70% capacity.
  6. Sterilize at 15 PSI for 120 minutes.
  7. After cooling, inoculate using grain-to-grain transfer or liquid culture.
  8. Shake at 20% colonization to ensure even distribution.
  9. Use once fully colonized for bulk substrate inoculation.
