Yellow Mold

A relatively mild contaminant that appears as yellow patches on substrate. Less aggressive than many other molds, it typically indicates minor issues with substrate preparation but rarely causes total crop loss.

What does Yellow Mold look like?

Pale yellow to golden powdery patches. Grows slowly compared to Trichoderma or Neurospora. May be mistaken for bacterial contamination.

Color
Yellow
Texture
Powdery, fine
Smell
Slight musty
Growth speed
Slow

Why does Yellow Mold show up?

Slightly inadequate sterilization, improper moisture balance, environmental contamination.

What do I do if I find Yellow Mold in my grow?

  1. Monitor the affected area.
  2. If limited, the mushroom mycelium may outcompete it.
  3. Remove heavily affected sections.
  4. Improve sterilization for future batches.

How do I prevent Yellow Mold?

  • Standard sterilization practices.
  • Maintain proper moisture levels in substrate.
  • Good air circulation.

At which stage does Yellow Mold appear?
